- The album artwork in relation to song and genre
John Newman's Tribute album cover colour scheme includes black, white and gold. These colours supports Newman's retro, sleek style. The gold shapes in the background are very rigid giving it an electric look to it. The artist is placed in the middle of the album cover looking straight at the audience this shows powerful sound. John is shown with a straight face with no emotion this shows the contrast in his music from being powerful and upbeat but having a stronger meaning behind it.
- The album in relation to lyrics of the song
- "I saw you Sunday, Monday, ah! Hanging with your man again" (Cheating)
With the phrase “hanging with your man again”, he implies that not only does his girl have affairs all the time, there’s a casualness about them that John has long accepted. He may be relating to himself as he may have gone through something similar thus having a bigger meaning behind the song.
- "You and I, it’s my time to talk, I'm throwing out, these two years of thought" (Gold Dust)
He slips into the big conversation by throwing out his thoughts, instead of just saying them. He’s been mulling over the end of his relationship with his lover for two years and the time has come for it to end.
- Typography
The typeogrpahy for his album aartwork represtens John Newmans music well as it gives a modern powerful vibe but also uses a retro/soul style to combine them both which works wel for the artist.
