Island Records signed John Newman when he was 20 years old. It was founded in Jamica by Chris Blackwell in 1959. Island Records was the largest indie record label in history it is based in the UK and is now owned by Universal Music Group.They are a huge record label who have also signed artists such as:
- Drake
- Avicii
- Mc Fly
- Nicki Minaj
- Kid Cudi
- Rizzle Kicks
and many more. They have a wide range artist's who are all have their own unique stlye and are all well known across the globe. This gives Island Records a good reputation and shows that they are very sucessful as business.
