We designed two tour posters using two different images. We used John Newmans web address, social network, recored label and promotion for the album. We put in tour dates and ticket offices, as we wanted to make it as real/professional as possible.

3rd Album Cover
Iconography Linked To Sound
- The powder paint shows the modern and young stance to the album.
Because the powder paint is bright and colourful, it shows that the
sound is going to be loud and upbeat.
Typography Linked To Sound
- We chose to use a bold/blocked typeography as it represents the genre of our music and it stands out. It gives an upbeat feeling to the album which is what we want to represent.
Conventions
Dance/Pop:
- Loud
- Bold
- Colourful
- Up beat
- Powerful
Meta-narrative
- John Newman has a old school retro traditional look to him. His album covers are quite simplel, they use minimul coolurs and use him at the front fo the main focus.
UKF (who remixed the song) have a colourful loud cover because it is a loud, powerful album so we used John Nemans simple look and UKF's stlye and put them together to use.

2nd Album Cover
For our 2nd idea for album cover we decided to come up with a symbol that could express our song "Love Me Again" we chose the hear for the "Love" aspect and the arrow on then end to represent the "Again"
Iconography Linked To Sound
- We wanted the insidde of the heart to be plain black but the bckground could be splattered with brightly coloured paint. Again this gives the contrast of the power that the UKF album uses and the simple, sleek feel that John Newman brings to his artwork.

1st Album Cover Idea
For our first album cover idea we decided to go for black background with a handprint in the middle of the cover which would be covered in bright powder paint whic would link to our music video
Iconography Linked To Sound
- The contrast of the colour against the black background shows that it is a poowerful album and loud. It would stand out to the audience and it links back to our video when we had our actors throwing powder paint

Final Digipack
Front Cover
- We decided to use this picture for our final album cover on this one as we thought it was a strong photo and was best at representng our genre and conventions of dance. On the album cover we decided to use the powder paint so it linked with our video. When choosing the typeography we looked at other dance albums and saw that they are all bold. We decided to go with this font as it is bold and loud and we feel it goes well with our music video and genre
Inside Left
- When looking through the pictures we took from the shoot we came across this picture and really liked it and knew that we wanted to use it in our digipack. We liked the sharpness of the photo and how some areas were blurred nd other parts were sharp. We decided to use it on the inside left as we think it shows that it is a powerful and loud album. When looking at the conventions of digipacks we saw that there is writing inside the digipack in small print so we used these convenions in our digipack aswell.
Inside Right
- We decided that the CD and inside right should be plain black. This is because we didn't want the digipack to look to busy and we thought that the contrast breaks up the busyness and gives it the John Newman iconography by being simple but sleek with a modern twist.
Back Cover
-We chose to use the back of her head but with no powder paint to show represent the studio shots we used in our video were it was very simple and plain. When putting in the writing we wernt sure on the type font we played around with a number of fonts but decided to go with the same one we used for the front cover to tie the digipack together. We also put in a bar code, production companies, logo's and labels to meet the conventions of a album.

Cross Media Ownership/Advertising
Cross media ownership, is the term used to describe a company that owns multiple different businesses in the media industry.
The advertising side of all of this, is when a company wants to
advertise a product, but does it through a very large variety of
different media types. The areas that Cross Media Advertising can cover are :
-
- Online/Websites
-
- Online
Video
-
- Newspapers
-
- Magazines
-
- Posters
-
- Leaflets
-
- Mobile
Phones
-
- TV
-
- Radio
-
- Pod-casting
-
- Hardware
(CDs/dvds)
I have discovers that they ALL seem to be picking elements of each advert. This provides the company with consistency, and more people will notice that it is the same brand’s advertising.
Example:
Rudimental - Home
Digipack Poster
Jessie J - Who Are You
Digipack Poster
Ancillery photoshoot
Today we took shots for our digi pack we needed to make sure by the end of the shooet we had atleast 4 pictures that we could use. We used the dark room as it had black walls and when we used our spotlight it would give the effect we wanted. We decided that for our front cover we wanted to use powder paint so that in ties into our music video.
This is the final picture that we have chosen to use for our front cover of our digi pack
For the back we have decided to use a shot of the back of her head which doesn't have powder paint on it. This links well with the studio shots that we took in the video.
This is the photo that we are using for our inside (left) cover, we chose to use this shot as we feel it is very powerful which is what we want to show in our digipack. We feel that this fits well with the conventions of a our genre.
The photoshoot went really well and we decided to increase the number of shots we needed and took different types of shots just to be safe
Lupe Fiasco - Iconography
- Album artwork in relation to song and genre
Lupe Fiasco’s Food and Liquors album cover uses different bright
colours and lights around the artist showing a superior position. This also
give a futuristic feel to the audience as he looks like he is on space, meaning
he is above everyone and the main focus, although he is surrounded by different
objects this suggests that he has different inspirations for his song. The
clothes he is wearing shows us that the artist is a stereotypical hip hop
artist. He is also holding a boom box whih suggests that he brings a retro/oldskool feel to his songs.
- Album in relation to lyrics of the song
The lyrics featured in the song mainly focus around the
idea of being famous and materialistic objects this is represented in the cover
as he is surrounded by different objects such as phones and a Nintendo DS
- Typography
I don’t think that this typography works well with the genre and album ocver. I think it was made to look futuristic but gives a Bollywood feel to the album cover when in actual fact they wanted to give a hip – hop/ futuristic style.
UKF - Iconography
- Album artwork in relation to song and genre
UKF Summer Drum&Bass album cover suggests an upbeat/loud tempo, this is shown through the mix of bright colours which also suggesting the diversity of artists. The style of this album is suggests that the music will be powerful and loud this is also shown through the typography and artwork as it is bold and loud.
- Album in relation to lyrics of the song
As this album uses a collection of artists, it makes it difficult to find relation between a specific song which lyrics relate to the album cover.
- Typeography
The typography for this album represents UKF very well as it the type is bold which gives it a powerful feeling and the white contrasts well with the black background.

Final Music Video: John Newman Love Me Again Remix - SANE Production
When it came to uploading our music video, we came across a few poblems. Sean (our Mac) hard drive had failed and we wern't able to save it anywhere else. This was a big problem as this was the only place that our music was saved on. We then had to call the technician and he recovered the video and was able to move it off the Mac so it was safe and we could then upload it.
Purpose Of A Music Video In The Digital Age
The purpose of a
music video is to promote an artist/bands song(s), this helps to increase sales
and awareness of the artist or band to increase sales on their singles and
albums of which the songs can increase their fan base. Music videos are a type
of marketing technique that is used to gives viewers a chance to get an insight
into the song. Artists/bands are also able to promote their merchandise in this
way, such as clothing as it gives the viewers desire for the product. The
digital age helps music video's to be viewed as they are a big part of
technology as these video's are free to the public to view at their own times
and they have a number of access points to watch music videos such as smart
phones, via the web (desktop) and apps and sites including Youtube and Vimeo.Youtube channels for artists and bands have been designed so that there are
links to their personal Myspace, Facebook and Twitter pages and is
available so that viewers can go to their channel instead of going to
copies from others on Youtube.
Target Audience Research
The audience for this music video would be aimed at young and middle aged people as it is taking the old retro style and also uses current date music which appeals to a range of age groups.

Intertextuality
Intertextuality is the way in which one media text is refrenced in another.
- Robbie Williams - You Know Me
This video shows Robbie Willaims getting taken to a "Alice and Wonderland" setting as he is then dressed up as the rabbit from the film. This creates intertextuality between the film and the music video. Also there is a shot at the end of the video where the artist is in the Metro- Goldwyn- Mayer trademark but instead of the traditional lion it is replaced with his rabbit character.
- Rabbit from Tim Burtons Alice and Wonderland
- Robbie Williams at the end of the video remaking the MGM trademark
- Red Hot Chili Pepper's - Californication
This video refrence refers to a number of video games. The video not only takes the animated route of video games but also uses features of a typical video game such as profile's for the charachters and statistics. The video appears as though the audience are controlling it though playing the game. This video is a mix of animation and performance which i think works really well. I think the video game aspect of the video is a
good way to target their younger audience
- Shots taken from the Californication video - Shots taken from video games
- Modonna - Material Girl
This video refrences the film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" where Marylin Monroe performed "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" Madonna dressed in similar clothing and had similar choreography created to represent this film for the song .The intertextual image is not necessarily of Monroe but the Hollywood concept of the sexy blonde whose aims to get exactly what she wants.

John Newman - Love Me Again Lyric Analysis
Know I’ve done wrong, left your heart torn
Is that what devils do?
Took you so long, where only fools gone
I shook the angel in you!Now I’m rising from the crowd
Rising up to you!
Feel with all the strength I found
There's nothing I can’t do!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
It’s unforgivable,
I stole and burnt your soul
Is that what demons do, hey?
They rule the worst in me
Destroy everything,
They blame on angels like you, hey!
Now I’m rising from the crowdRising up to you!
Feel with all the strength I found
There's nothing I can’t do!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
Uh, uh, uh, uh!
Oh, oh!
Told you once again,
Do this again, do this again, oh!
I told you once again,
Do this again, do this again, oh, oh!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
The song lyrics shows that the singer is singing about a story that doesn't apply to himself. The singer is shown preforming the whole way through the music video and dancing throughout the song which helps portray the genre of the song to the audience more, being pop. The people that are in the music video dancing also help to show this genre of what the song. It also helps to create an atmosphere and feeling to the audience that the artist would wants them to feel when listening to the song and watching the music video.

What Is Creativity?
Today's activity we were asked to write down in no more than 50 words what we rthought creativity is. We all wrote down our definitions and put them on the table, we had a look at what weveryone wrote and discussed the definitions. We came to the conclusion that we couldn't critisise anyones definitions because they were indiviually created.

Dangerously In Love
This is Beyonce's first album, it doesn't have a specific colour scheme. Her album cover (top left) shows her in a sort of dance postision and showing of her body with a short jewled top whioch also reinforces the voyerism. The shots are focuses on her, her makeup, hair and clothing. The overall impression of Beyonce tells us that she is a performer and dancer, and her songs are marketed at female's.
B-Day
The typeogrphy look hand written or sciptured, making it look personal as the album is called "B-Day" meaning it's about her. The main overall impression is nature as she is placed in natural enviroments like tree's and fields. This also portrays a natural beauty, freedom and peace.
